The Karen Society is dedicated to providing help to others!

The Karen Society is built on strength, resilience, and community.
For many families from Karen State in Myanmar, decades of government persecution and armed conflict forced us to flee our homes and seek safety elsewhere. For these families, Buffalo became one of the first places where we could finally begin rebuilding our lives.
Over the past 15 years, more than 10,000 Karen, Karenni, Chin, and Burmese refugees have arrived in Western New York. Each bringing their culture, their hopes, and their determination to start again.

Our work focuses on helping these families adjust, heal, and thrive.
From cultural celebrations to youth programs and community support services, we create spaces where people can reconnect with their roots, find belonging, and strengthen their futures. Our events draw not only Buffalo residents but also community members from Rochester, Syracuse, Ithaca, Utica, and Albany.

Your support allows us to stand alongside families who have already endured so much, and to help them continue their journey toward stability, dignity, and hope.
